Father's Day Interview

For the past few years,
Ethan and I celebrate
Father's Day
with an interview.
Ethan gets asked a bunch of questions
about his dad
and we share it.

This year,
we headed to Orlando
on Father's Day,
which made getting this post up,
a little harder.

But,
better late than never,
I suppose.

What is something Daddy always says to you?
He always says, "Listen to mommy."
(This "listen" thing seems to be a theme.
Same thing last year!)

What makes Daddy happy?
If I listen.
(Obviously he still isn't listening,
if Daddy is still saying this!)

What makes him sad?
If I'm being mean.

What does he do that makes you laugh?
He makes funny jokes and voices.

What was he like as a child?
I don't know!
Tall?
Like me?

How old is Daddy?
42? 41? I don't know.
C'mon!

How tall is he?
Ummm....
61 inches?
(HA!!! Daddy's shorter than me!!!!)

What is his favourite thing to do?
Yell at people!!
People on the computer and in real life!

What does he do when you're not around?
Work.
(That's pretty consistent!)

If Daddy was famous, what would it be for?
His work.

What is he really good at?
Yelling at people.
(Yikes, Daddy's not doing very well this year.)

What is he not really good at?
Not yelling at people!
I'm just joking!
He's not really good at...
I don't know.
He's pretty much good at everything.

What does he do for his job?
He makes trucks...
ships trucks.

What is Daddy's favourite food?
Chicken. Beef. Ham. Bacon.
These meats!

What makes you proud of him?
How happy he makes me feel.

If Daddy was a cartoon character, who would he be?
Bugs Bunny.
He always talks in silly voices,
and Bugs Bunny talks in a silly voice.

What do you and Daddy do together?
We play card games.

How are you and Daddy the same?
He's a man, and I'm a man.
And we're both good at swimming.

How are you different?
He's better at card games than I am.
He's better at baseball than I am.
He's pretty much better.

How do you know he loves you?
He gives me hugs,

Where is Daddy's favourite place to go?
Disney!
I mean Universal.
I don't know!

Obviously the last answer is based on our last week.
Thanks for a great vacation.
Thanks for being an amazing dad.
Love you.

The Mark of Athena - Rick Riordan

It is time to save the world!!!

Members of the Greek,
Camp Half-Blood,
and the Roman,
Camp Jupiter
must come together on a quest
to stop the rise of Gaea.

But things don't go as planned.
Annabeth, Jason, Piper and Leo
arrive at Camp Jupiter.
They are not trusted,
and things go from bad to worse
when Leo is taken over by an Idolan
and attacks the camp.
Percy, Hazel and Frank,
join them as they escape and head to Rome,
to try and stop Gaea.

And this is not an easy task.

They need to save Nico
who is held captive.
And Annabeth
has a side quest of her own.
She has been given the task
to follow the Mark of Athena
and find something that was stolen
when the Romans conquered the Greeks.
This will,
apparently,
help unite both sides.

But can the seven
do all this in time?

Writer's Workshop - Disney Princess

If you had to choose a Disney princess
to live the rest of your life as....
which princess would you choose
and why?

I love Disney.
I love Disney princesses.
I have a boy,
so I'm one of those moms
that doesn't get upset
that the princesses are princesses.
Yes,
I love the fractured fairy tales
where the princess is tough.
But I do love a good fairy tale too.

I have a slight Cinderella obsession.
I collect Cinderella books.
I have a whole lot!

So,
when I saw this prompt,
I immediately thought
Cinderella!
I mean,
isn't she the Queen of Princesses?
If you've read
series
Cinderella is awesome,
yet boring.
Kind of.
Red Riding Hood is more interesting.

And then I thought;
Do I want to be a princess who sits around
all day in fancy gowns?
Ummm... no!

But then,
every once in awhile,
I get a picture of a Rebel Princess
show up on my Facebook page.
Have you seen them?

My main issue with the Disney princesses
is I don't fit in.
I have a mouth.
And an attitude.
So these non-traditional princesses
suit me better.

So, let's re-visit today's prompt.
Which princess would I be?
I decided to go with Belle.
Come on...
she lives in a huge house filled with
BOOKS!!!

Plus,
I came across this picture...

Who can resist Sheldon?
And this....

Doesn't she look awesome?

So,
good looks + attitude + books = Belle!

The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins

I've read a lot of reviews,
comparing this book to
Gone Girl.
People who loved the latter
are recommending this one.

Well...
I'm someone who wasn't crazy about
Gone Girl
but I loved this one!

The Girl on the Train
is a psychological thriller
told in the POV of the three leading female characters.

Rachel is an alcoholic.
Her marriage fell apart
when she became depressed that she could not conceive.
She turned to alcohol for comfort
and her husband turned to someone else.
Now,
she's bitter, divorced and
unemployed.
Yet everyday,
she rides the commuter train to London
where she watches the houses as they go buy
and imagines the life of the people in them.

Megan has a loving husband.
But she has secrets
which causes anxiety.
She seeks the help of a psychologist
and starts to feel better.

Anna seemingly lives a perfect life.
She fell in love with a married man,
but he left his wife for her.
Now they have a beautiful daughter.
But his ex-wife keeps calling
and harassing them.

One day,
while on the train,
Rachel sees something shocking.
It shatters her image of the people in the houses.
Then a girl goes missing
and Rachel believes she has important information.

Suddenly the lives of these three women
have become intertwined
and what happens next
is shocking!
